The Impact of Lost Items on Schools: Understanding the Ripple Effect

Every time an item is misplaced or stolen, there is an impact, both in terms of inconvenience and in terms of cost.  Despite many items being insured, there is still likely to be an increase in premiums as a result of claims for items being mislaid or taken.ID Asset Labels from Dantech

Call it wishful thinking or simply not understanding, but many of us, especially organisations such as schools, simply do not evaluate nor include the cost of the time and money it takes to replace items that have been lost or stolen. However, if we did take into account not just the financial cost but also the cost in terms of disruption to lessons, searching for lost items, etc. the worth of a system which reduces such misplacements and losses would immediately be more evident.

The fact of the matter is that there is a definite need to recognize and keep track of valuable equipment, especially in places where there is a high footfall of people coming and going with little restrictions.  All that is needed for most people is a labelling system that clearly states the property of the school and which can be used on such small equipment. This can be difficult but Dantech have several labels which match these needs.

Indeed, this is the thinking behind the ID Mini Mark Labels, which are suitable for exactly the type of equipment that is most likely to go missing. These include items from laptops to microphones, tablets to earphones and cables to cameras.  All can be labelled with asset labels from Dantech.

Each label produced by Dantech can include a serial number which makes it possible to include a lot of data in a small space. The labels themselves are also tamper-proof, and should anybody attempt to remove the asset label or switch the label onto some other equipment, the material will break into small pieces showing that the label has been tampered with. In addition, as the information is engraved into the surface of the label it cannot be removed with chemicals and cleaning materials, protecting the label and the item further.

The Mini Mark labels from Dantech can be produced with white text on a black material or with black text on a white surface. You can find out more information about our Mini Mark labels and our other labels on our website - www.idassetlabels.co.uk.
